The Tiling Searcher for macOS and Windows
v1.48.0 · 29 Oct 2026feature
New features
- The Tiling Searcher, the desktop app that finds every k-uniform tiling a set of tiles can make and draws each one as it is found, is now a download for macOS (Apple silicon) and Windows, from the button in the top bar or on the home page. It runs Marek Čtrnáct's engine.
- A tiling's symmetry group can be changed in /play, as in Tegula: raise the rotation order at a vertex or a tile centre and the tiling follows into the geometry its curvature calls for, so 3.4.6.4 (∗632) becomes 3.4.7.4 (∗732) in the Poincaré disk and the rhombicosidodecahedron (∗532) on the sphere.
Changed
- Marble, stained glass, wood and cobblestone now paint the plane and the sphere as well as the Poincaré disk, from a Materials switch at the end of View options.
- Hyperbolic boards whose tiles take several edge lengths split their /play tree by sized tile, so the triangles at edge 1, 2 and 7 on board 1247 no longer sit together.
Fixed
- Hyperbolic tiles whose sides are cut by flat points take the colour of their real corner count: a triangle with two-edge sides was painted as a hexagon. Previews also no longer flash after stepping through many tilings.
